Alerts

Alerts take two steps:

  1. Choose the drawing. Open a PowerFib drawing’s properties and tick Enable alerts. It’s off on every new drawing, so nothing alerts until you choose it. The drawing’s label then reads “Alerts on”.
  2. Choose what it alerts on in Control Center → PowerFib → Alerts: which levels, the sounds, and whether alerts go to your phone. These are All charts settings - every drawing with alerts on uses them, unless its chart has its own (see Different settings for each chart). Every change applies immediately.

The Alerts on list at the top of that tab shows every drawing that can send an alert, with its chart and anchors, so you always know where an alert will come from. The button on each row says whose settings it uses - All charts or Own settings - and clicking it shows them.

Two buttons sit on each row. All charts / Own settings shows the settings the chart uses. Alerts off unticks Enable alerts on that one drawing and drops it from the list; the drawing stays on its chart. A drawing that was drawn on one instrument but sits on a chart now showing another (you changed the chart’s instrument, or duplicated a chart and changed the copy) is flagged in red. NinjaTrader doesn’t show such a drawing anywhere, so it can’t be found on the chart; it sends no alerts, and Remove drawing takes it off the chart for good.

What can alert

SectionAlerts onNotes
Fib levelsPrice crossing the levels you pickClick a level chip to turn it on or off. The chips match the level set of your drawing, Custom included.
Volume profilePrice crossing POC, VAH or VALFixed uses the swing between the anchors. Developing uses the profile on the right, as drawn.
TradesEntry filled, target filled, stopped out, stop moved, order rejected or connection lostEach has its own switch and sound. Stop moved is off to begin with.

Every alert names its chart, for example MNQ 09-26 (2000 Volume) crossed below 38.2, so two charts on the same instrument are never confused. Level alerts start as soon as your workspace loads; the chart doesn’t need to be on screen.

Trade alerts come from the strategy and don’t need Enable alerts on the drawing.

Which drawing the strategy trades: if a chart has more than one PowerFib drawing, the strategy trades the one drawn or moved most recently, and its label reads “Active”. The strategy keeps its drawing until the trade is closed.

Condition and rearm

  • Condition
    • Crosses above or below, Crosses above or Crosses below — price trading through the level, tick by tick. A wick counts.
    • Closes above or Closes below — a bar closes on the far side of the level, the bar before having closed on or before it. Only closing prices count, so a wick through the level doesn’t alert. You hear about it on the first price after the bar completes. A drawing never alerts on bars that closed before it started watching, and the message says “closed” instead of “crossed”.
  • Rearm, the same choices as NinjaTrader’s own alerts:
    • On condition reversed — can alert again once price has crossed back over the level.
    • On bar close — can alert again after the chart’s current bar closes.
    • Never — alerts once for each level until the drawing moves.

With a Closes condition, On bar close and On condition reversed both wait for a close back on the near side before alerting again.

Turning alerts off

  • All alerts switches everything off.
  • Mute sounds keeps popups and phone alerts but silences sounds.
  • Each section has its own On switch, so you can keep level alerts and turn trade alerts off, or the other way round.

Different settings for each chart

A chart can have its own fib level and volume profile alerts - 61.8 and the POC on your NQ chart, only 38.2 on ES.

  1. In Control Center → PowerFib → Alerts, pick the chart in Settings for (or click the button on its row in Alerts on).
  2. Tick Use its own settings. The chart starts with a copy of All charts’ settings.
  3. Change what’s different. It applies to that chart only.

Untick Use its own settings to put the chart back on All charts. While a chart uses All charts, its sections are shown greyed out, so you can see what it will do.

A chart’s settings outlive its drawings: close a chart or change its instrument and it stays in the Settings for list, marked (no drawing). Pick it and press Forget this chart’s settings to delete them.

A chart is its instrument and bar type, like NQ · 2000 Volume. Its settings stay with it through restarts, contract rollovers and every new fib you draw. Two chart windows with the same instrument and bar type share them.

Only Fib levels and Volume profile change per chart. Trades, Phone, All alerts and Mute sounds always apply to every chart.

Sounds

Pick a sound for each section and each trade event. Picking a sound plays it so you can hear it. To add your own, put WAV files in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\PowerFib\sounds. They appear in every sound list the next time you open the PowerFib window.

Sending alerts to your phone

Tick Send to phone on each section you want on your phone, then connect at least one channel under Phone. Phone alerts go to every channel you’ve connected. To stop them, untick Send to phone or press Disconnect. They’re not sent during Market Replay unless you tick Also send during playback.

  1. In Telegram, open @BotFather, send /newbot, and follow the prompts. BotFather gives you a bot token.
  2. Open your new bot in Telegram and send it any message, such as “hi”.
  3. In the PowerFib window, paste the token under Telegram and press Connect. PowerFib finds your chat and sends a confirmation message.

Discord

  1. In your Discord server, open the channel’s settings → Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook, then Copy Webhook URL.
  2. Paste it under Discord and press Connect.

SMS through NinjaTrader

PowerFib sends texts through NinjaTrader’s email service to your carrier’s email-to-text address, so NinjaTrader has to be set up to send email first.

  1. In the NinjaTrader Control Center, open Tools → Options → General → Share Services.
  2. Add an Email share service and enter your email account’s details. Use NinjaTrader’s own Test to confirm it sends.
  3. In the PowerFib window, enter your carrier’s text address under SMS through NinjaTrader, for example 5551234567@tmomail.net for T-Mobile or 5551234567@vtext.com for Verizon. Press Send test.

Carrier email-to-text gateways are unreliable, and some carriers have shut theirs down — AT&T did in 2025. If texts don’t arrive, use Telegram or Discord instead: both are free and deliver instantly.
